Playing around with flowers

Last week, I spent quite a bit of  time practicing different cupcake designs in preparation for the Live PME cupcake finals which will be held at the Cake International exhibition on 4th November. I'll be there along with 8 other contestants decorating 13 cupcakes in 2 hours in front of everyone. If you're at the exhibition that day be sure to pop over and say hi.

Here are some of the cupcakes to come out of the kitchen recently....

Hope you all have a lovely week.

There's that ribbon rose again....as you can tell I'm enjoying making them at the moment

Lastly, a little flower cluster....

Hope you are all having as much fun in the kitchen as I am this week!

Hi everyone,
Apologies for the lack of postings recently. I have been busy baking but haven't set aside any time to upload photos. Here's a selection of what's coming out of my kitchen these days...

First up are some shabby chic cupcakes decorated with handmade flowers and bows......so girly

I love playing around with duck egg (bluey-green) sugarpaste at the moment - such a pretty colour.

Next up are some mini cakes covered in sugarpaste......

and then another mini cake with a handmade sugar rose.......so pretty for a wedding

and here's another sugar rose I made......I'm finally getting the hang of how to make these.....

Next are a selection of flower cupcakes. I put these together as a sample for a class that I will be running from June to September at Cakeology called 'Garden Party Cupcakes'.

Last of all is another vintage inspired cupcake - I love making these

Hope you all have a lovely week.

Shabby Chic Cupcake Classes

On 2nd April a new cake store - Cakeology - is opening in my suburb. I'm super excited about this because they will be stocking a complete range of cake decorating equipment and supplies.....I am never going to run out of sugarpaste again and have to wait for it to be delivered - yay!

Cakeology will also be running a whole lot of different cake decorating workshops over the year, including a day course on how to decorate cupcakes shabby chic style! I am especially excited about this because I have been asked to run the course.  My first 2 classes will be held on 30th April and 14th May from 10-2:30pm. You can find out more information about this class and the other classes run by Cakeology here. Here's a peek at some of the cupcakes I will be showing everyone how to make.....

So pretty and girly - I love it!

'Love Cupcakes'

Here are the cupcakes that I entered into the Squires Cake and Sugarcraft exhibition this weekend. It was such a great show and was sold out on all three days - which only goes to show how much sugarcraft is gaining momentum in the UK.

The theme for the cupcake class this year was 'Engagement cupcakes'. I decided to make a shabby-chic inspired set.....

Here they are in more detail......

I ended up getting a bronze medal for this set - was so thrilled!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

Whoopie Pies - Shabby Chic Style

I love all things shabby chic so when it came time to thinking about how to decorate a freshly baked batch of whoopie pies, I couldn't resist embellishing them with roses and flowers. The recipe I like to use for the whoopies is here from a previous post.

Whoopie pies are so delicious - I can't believe how light the marshmallow cream in the centre is. I highly recommend trying them out.

Shabby chic loveliness

I've been playing around with pastels this week and practicing flower making. Here are a few cupcakes inspired by all things shabby chic.

Love the delicate contrast of baby blue against the white flowers. Looking forward to making more soon.

Cupcake Photo Shoot

Last Friday one of my friends very kindly agreed to come over and take some pictures of a few of my cupcakes. She always takes lovely pictures for her website so I was thrilled that she was free to take some nice shots for the new website for Icing Bliss that I am currently trying to put together. I'm anxiously awaiting to see how the photos turned out.....but in the meantime, here are some of the cupcakes I made and the pictures I took of them before the official photo shoot started..........

 Pretty shabby chic rose cupcake

White petunia cupcake - so pretty - I recon these cupcakes would look beautiful as a vintage wedding cupcake tower

Bouquet of roses - I love making these cupcakes :)

Sample of black and white designs

Pink and black chic

Shabby chic blossom cupcake

I made a few other cupcakes but I will wait for the official photoshoot pictures to come through before I share them with you. Stay tuned......
